Registered Nurse Lactation Consultant, Specialty Lactation – Part time
Job Description
Summary: The RN, Lactation Consultant specializes in lactation management, diagnosing issues, planning interventions, and evaluating outcomes. Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating and consulting with mothers on breastfeeding challenges.
- Conducting daily bedside lactation rounds.
- Planning and teaching prenatal breastfeeding classes.
- Providing in-service education for Womens Services nursing staff.
- Fostering a learning culture for staff and patients.
- Participating in decision-making activities within Womens Services.
- Performing additional assigned duties.
Requirements: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school with excellent communication skills. Previous RN experience in Womens Services is required, with Lactation Consultant experience preferred. Must hold a current Texas RN license and obtain IBCLC certification within specified timeframes.
