Job Description

We are seeking an *Advanced Practice Provider *to join us at Brown Health Medical Group in Providence, RI. In this position you will assist with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatment and consultations.
*Responsibilities:*
* Assess and treat patients within an urgent care setting based on priority of care needs
* Obtain and record detailed medical histories
* Assess patient status and develop patient care management plans through communication and collaboration with the registered nurses, attending physicians, residents and other members of the interdisciplinary team
* Order medically indicated labs, x-rays, ECGs, point-of-care tests, injections, referrals and prescribe medications/treatments
* Perform digital blocks and local anesthesia, as well as minor surgical procedures, such as lacerations, incision and drainage
* Effectively manage private pre-employment and workers compensation patients
* Manage patients who do not require complex medical management or specialized treatment and educate patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments
*Qualifications:*
* Nurse Practitioner: Master’s degree and completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program; must be a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with RI license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner
* Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s degree and graduate of an accredited physician assistant program; must be certified by the NCCPA with current Rhode Island physician assistant license
* One year of related experience required; two years preferred
* Prior Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine experience preferred; medic or primary care experience is acceptable
* Ability to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns
* Knowledge of basic emergency department, internal medicine generalist, occupational medicine and family practice procedures
* Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
